Olympia International Inc. selling many of their luggage and other bags under the name “Olympia USA” has been in business for over thirty years. The company makes and sells bags for every possible aspect of travel including accessory bags, totes, carry ons and larger checked bags. The company also has a number of other types of bags such as briefcases, backpacks and shopper’s totes.
The following review looks at a range of the Olympia products and is broken down into several sections. These include: soft side luggage, hard side luggage, sets and then a final section of bags, duffel bags and totes. For the section on sets, some models may have already been reviewed in previous sections but will be reviewed as part of a set. Key elements may be repeated during those reviews for clarity.
A Note on the Olympia USA/Olympia International Warranty
The company’s warranty policy is vague at best. The warranty period for each piece can range from 5 to 10 years. The exact length is included on the tag that accompanies each item however that means that you may not know how long the warranty period is until you have made a purchase. Regardless of length, the warranty is limited and will not cover things like cosmetic damage or what the company considers to be normal wear and tear. Other things that are not covered by the warranty include: lost or forgotten combinations or keys to locks, any straps including those that are not meant to be removed from the item. Zipper pulls and other hardware accessories are also not covered.
The warranty will also not cover any damage that is caused by travel carriers. Instead, the company will refer you to file a claim with the carrier directly. Under the rare occasion that your warranty claim is approved you will be asked to complete several steps that include taking photos or videos of your claim, filling out a form and if necessary, sending in the broken or damaged part for repair or replacement. The customer will be asked to pay a shipping and handling fee for returns as well as for any part that is being sent as part of a repair.
Please note that items that are designated as “carry on” or under seat baggage may not actually meet the size restriction standards for every airline. As these vary from carrier to carrier and may change with little prior notice it is important to find out the exact dimensions and weight restrictions as close to your travel date as possible and to double check the measurements on your own.

The Olympia 8 Pocket Rolling Duffel Bag
This rolling duffel bag is available in a number of sizes and a large number of colors. Sizes include a 22 inch, 26 inch, 29 inch and the massive 33 inch bag. A hide away, retractable, push button handle extends to allow the bag to be easily wheeled and then slips back in to its pocket to be out of the way when it is not needed.
This bag also has canvas straps for short trips when you don’t need to use the wheels and handle system. The top opening is a large, U shape for easy packing, unpacking and access to your items.
There is a total of 8 pockets in this bag so that you can organize all of your items exactly how you need them, no matter how you choose to use this duffel. It is made of 100% 1200 denier polyester.
The empty weights of the bag range from just over five pounds for the smallest to just over seven pounds for the largest.
Is this a recommended bag?
Available in a wide range of sizes and colors, this is a multipurpose bag and can be used for everything from camping, to travel or as a gym bag. It can be flattened out for storage when not in use.

The Olympia Cascade 20″ Upright Carry On with Hideaway Backpack Straps
Available in two colors, blue and green, this carry on option is made of a jacquard polyester for easy care and durability. The unique feature of this bag is the hideaway backpack straps that are tucked away behind a padded back panel when they are not in use.
Interior Features
On the inside of this expandable bag is a mesh pocket plus a dual buckle tie belt to keep everything neatly in place once you are finished packing.
Exterior Features
An additional pocket is on the side of this bag which can be used for small or last minute items. Despite its small size and light weight (5.4 pounds) the Cascade does have 2, inline skate wheels and a push button, locking handle. The wheels are protected by plastic housing.
Compression straps on the outside of the bag allow for more security after backing and can allow for more expansion room if needed. Canvas handles on the top and side give additional carrying options.
Is this a recommended bag?
The Cascade does offer a number of options for use including as a rolling backpack or as a carry on, depending on airline carrier.

A 30″ bag to hold everything you need for extended trips or as a single bag for an entire family, the Tuscany is made of 100%, two tone polyester with a full, textile lining.
The Spinner Wheels
The Tuscany has 8, spinner wheels that rotate 360 degrees for quick direction changes and easy traveling, even when the bag is full.
Handles and Straps
The Tuscany is easy to roll behind you with a u shaped, push button retracting handle as well as top and side carry handles to help you get the bag in and out of car trunks and other places.
Interior
The Tuscany is expandable to allow for up to 25% more packing capacity. Inside there is a mesh zipped pocket, an elasticized half pocket along one side and a solid zip pocket on the other side. Elastic, adjustable tie down straps allow you to secure everything in place. An additional zipped pocket is located on the front of the exterior of this suitcase.
Is this a recommended bag?
This is a very large bag with expanding capabilities. The wheels are a nice feature however they are a frequent source of complaints so be aware of that. Because of its size, the Tuscany is probably one that is likely to be over packed whether that is on purpose or not which could cause the bag to fail. Because it will be subjected to the various types of handling at airports, it should be noted that the durability of this bag in terms of the material that is used as well as the corners have not had a great track record. Frequent travelers may do well to make another choice.

This carry on bag has an interior top hanging, zippered pocket plus a dual buckle tie down belt to keep everything in place. An additional zipped pocket on the inside is useful for smaller items that you want to keep separated.
Exterior Features
The bag can be carried by either the top or side carry handles and wheeled using the push button, retractable handle. There are 2 zipped pockets on the front. For its size, this bag is fairly heavy at nearly 10 pounds.
Is this a recommended bag?
There are more than a few complaints mostly about the wheels and handle for this bag and the overall durability is a big question mark as well. More telling is the lack of customer care for the Olympia company. A frequent complaint about customer service is a common theme with many concentrated around this particular bag.

Wheels and Handles
The Apache rolls on 4 spinner wheels and uses an aluminum locking handle system. The handle can be lowered completely so that it does not catch on things when not in use. An additional carry handle is located on the top of the suitcase.
Internal Features
Inside of the Apache Carry On is a divider with an additional zipped, mesh pocket plus a detachable, clear plastic TSA 3-1-1 pouch to meet current TSA rules on liquids while traveling. A buckle tie down keeps everything in place once it is packed.
The interior is fully padded with an additional, hidden compartment that is located inside of the expanding area. This extra space can be used for items that you might need immediately such as documents, tickets and other items and keeps you from having to open the entire suitcase.
Is this a recommended bag?
The Apache has some nice features including the removable wet pouch and the hidden compartment. The color choices are bold but not garish and the case is fairly lightweight. There may be some questions on whether or not it will actually qualify as a carry on with every provider but that is not really an issue determined by Olympia.

Interior and Special Features
The fully padded interior has an internal divider plus a zipped, mesh pocket. A dual buckled tie down helps keep your items in place. The detachable, clear plastic TSA wet pouch helps keep your approved liquids in one place in case they need to be inspected at security. The Denmark also features a hidden compartment located in the expansion area that can be used for your travel essentials such as documents, tickets and more and keeps you from having to open the main zipper of the case.
Wheels and Handles
The retracting handle is aluminum and locks in place. It can be raised or lowered via push button for easier operation. A top and bottom carry handle allows for easy movement. The Denmark uses 4 spinner wheels for smooth gliding over a wide range of surfaces.
Is this a recommended bag?
The Denmark comes in elegant and fairly understated colors which would be appropriate for most business travelers but may still appeal to more casual travelers as well. It is slightly heavier than most bags of this size but not overly so. Most complaints regarding this model have more to do with customer service and response times with the company rather than the suitcase in question. It seems to be a fairly durable bag with some minor wheel issues.

The Olympia Stanton Hard Case Carry On With Spinner Wheels
Available in black, burgundy and metallic blue, the Stanton is made of super light, polycarbonate plastic. It is a relatively new addition to the Olympia line up. It features an aluminum handle plus chrome corner shields. Four spinner wheels help move this carry on bag through a variety of surfaces.
This is one of the few models of Olympia bags that have a TSA lock system integrated in the shell.
Interior Features
Inside of the Stanton you will find a hanging zipped pocket and the standard, dual buckle tie down belts.
Is this a recommended bag?
Nicely designed with understated color choices, the Stanton carry on is a decent bag in most regards. The inclusion of the TSA approved lock makes it a stand out choice however, that is tempered by the fact that the aluminum handle might be far too short for people of above average height. There are no height adjustments for the majority of the bags offered by Olympia which is a shame.

The Titan is only available in three colors which include black, dark grey and metallic blue. It is made of polycarbonate plastic and is expandable to give extra packing capacity.
Interior Features
Inside of the Titan is a divider panel which allows you to separate items in to two distinct sets if you would like. If you are using this as an overnight bag for 2 people, the divider panel could be used to create a “yours” and “mine” side. A small zipped pocket plus a larger mesh zipped pocket can hold smaller items. A large elasticized pouch is located on one side of the interior.
Exterior Features
In addition to the retracting handle there is a top carry handle on the Titan. Four spinner wheels allow for easy mobility on a wide range of surfaces.
Is this a recommended bag?
This is a decent sized bag with sedate, professional looking colors which would work for the average traveling business person. The wheels and handle make it easier to move while the light weight allows it to be carried when the wheels are going to be less effective.

Is this a recommended bag?
As garment bags go, this is no different than most on the market. It is a decent size with decent features. It accomplishes the main task that it is designed for which is getting your clothes from Point A to Point B with a minimum of wrinkles. The additional pockets on the inside as well as the organizational pocket on the outside are nice features. The ability to carry this garment bag in a number of ways is also nice.

The Features
The Fashionista has 2 metal ball bearing, inline wheels, a telescoping handle plus a bottom carry handle and top straps. A side mesh pocket is designed to hold small items such as a water bottle while you are out running errands. It is 20″ and weighs just over 4 pounds. The wheels are recessed slightly.
Is this a recommended shopping tote?
While the color choices are amazing and the overall concept is a good one, the design of the Fashionista is a bit lacking. Two main problems detract from this tote right away. First, the wheels are recessed and come slightly into the interior of the bag. They are separated by a piece of material but that could still mean that water is being splashed around which could eventually cause your items to become wet. The constant rubbing of the wheels will eventually wear through this material which may mean replacing it with something or having to buy a whole new bag. If you replace the material with something more durable it could cause damage to the wheels which may render the tote useless.
The second issue is with the telescoping handle. Because it does not lock into place once it is extended you can only pull the tote along behind you instead of pushing it in front of you like a small shopping cart. This means that tight spots like smaller elevators could be a major challenge. It can also mean that people with shorter arms may end up running over their own heels in the process of pulling this tote around.
There are better designed totes out there.

The 21″ bag comes in these colors: Black, Black and Blue, Black and Pink, Black and Purple, Paisley, Purple Paisley and Tulip.
Both sizes are made of ripstop polyester material and have a full, imprinted interior lining. Both also have an EVA foam padded front panel.
Interior Features
In addition to the lining, each bag has a well-padded laptop computer compartment which will hold devices of up to 15.6 inches. The main compartment leaves plenty of room for overnight essentials such as a change of clothing and toiletries.
Exterior Features
The push button handle is retractable and hides away when not in use. The wheels are recessed, metal ball bearing inline skate wheels. A front zipped pocket and a side pocket with hook and loop fastener allows for last minute extras and items you might need immediately. The front also has an under flap organizer with pockets, slots and pen holders to keep your business needs easily at hand.
Both bags have a back strap which can be used to attach them to other pieces of wheeled luggage for convenience.
Is this a recommended bag?
Both bags have charming colors to choose from. The smaller bag may be too small for an adult to use but would be a good addition to family luggage for a child that wants their own bag. It would also work as a toy and snack bag to keep a little one busy.

Tarpaulin is designed to be heavy duty material as well as waterproof in most situations. It is susceptible to sun damage and can become brittle in extreme weather conditions. The Cosmopolitan is similar in design to the Fashionista but is smaller in size. (The Cosmopolitan is 19″ high while the Fashionista is 20″).

The Cosmopolitan has 2 top straps for easy carrying where wheels are of no use. There is also an internally retracting handle to use to pull the tote along behind you. The recessed wheels are metal ball bearing, inline skate wheels.

Is this a recommended rolling shopper tote?
Like the Fashionista, the handle on the Cosmopolitan does not lock in the upright or extended position making it impossible to push forward. This could impact the ability to use it in certain common situations such as in elevators or on uneven sidewalks. It may also mean that shorter people will be hitting themselves in the ankles/backs of the leg with a fully loaded cart.

From every other aspect, this is a decent bag with good color choices and typical, expected features. It is fairly light and is easy to use for most situations.
